As part of its mandate to provide project oversight and supervision, the Lead Technical Officers (LTOs) from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) will visit the Project Management Unit (PMU) and beneficiary countries of the “Enhancing capacity for the adoption and implementation of Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries (EAF) in the shrimp and groundfish fisheries of the North Brazil Shelf Large Marine Ecosystem (EAF4SG),” andthe “Strategies, technologies, and social solutions to manage bycatch in tropical Large Marine Ecosystem Fisheries (REBYC-III CLME+),” projects in March and April 2025.
Mr. Jon Lansley, Fishery Industry Officer, FAO and LTO, REBYC-III CLME+ project and Dr. Marcelo Vasconcellos, Fishery Resources Officer, FAO and LTO, EAF4SG project will participate in a number of project activities during their visit which serves to inter alia ensure:
Both projects are being are funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Trust Fund, implemented by the FAO and executed by the Faculty of Food and Agriculture (FFA) of The University of the West Indies (UWI), St. Augustine Campus.

With its relevant research and wide range of undergraduate and graduate offerings in agriculture, agribusiness, food and nutrition, geography and related areas, the FFA is poised to make a significant contribution.
